Job Title: Co-Gan Teacher, Hebrew/Judaics
FSLA Status: Exempt
Term of Employment: Beginning August 15, 2010
Reports to: Head of School
Salary Range: $30,000 – $36,000 (depending on experience)

The Hebrew/Judaics teacher is responsible for teaching Hebrew and Judaics, primarily to the assigned grade(s), in Hebrew. A key instructional goal is to enable students to speak Hebrew both in structured and unstructured conversations at a grade-appropriate level. The Hebrew/Judaics teacher is expected to teach, coach, counsel, supervise, and care about the students, work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the school, work collegially with administrators and fellow teachers, and grow professionally. The teacher is expected to be clear on instructional goals of units and lessons, help student gain understanding and knowledge, assess student achievement, and adjust instruction as indicated by the results of the assessment.

Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.

Ann and Nate Levine Academy of Dallas, a Solomon Schechter School, is seeking a part time Jewish studies teacher for middle school grades 5 and 6. The candidate must be well- qualified and highly motivated who will serve as an energetic and enthusiastic role model for students both in and out of the classroom. The candidate will be expected to teach Hebrew text and should be well-versed in the areas of Tanach and Mishna. The right candidate will understand UbD curricular goals, differentiated instruction and classroom management skills. All Jewish studies teachers in our school are expected to participate in daily tefillah and special programming.

Solomon Schechter Day School of Metropolitan Chicago is looking for a dynamic and reflective Hebrew and Judaic Studies teacher for the 3rd Grade.  As part of the 3rd grade team, this teacher will teach Humash, Ivrit, Hagim and Tfilla.

Position: Fifth grade General Studies teacher at Sager Solomon Schechter Day School in Northbrook, Illinois for two classes of students. Content areas include math, social studies, reading, writing and language arts skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement a constructivist-based mathematics program and provide appropriate differentiation for struggling and advanced students.
  • Implement a constructivist-based social studies program.
  • Plan and implement reading, writing and language skills lessons with a focus on meeting the needs of diverse learners.
  • Interpret MAP assessment data and use the data to inform instruction in the classroom.
  • Use the Traits of Writing as a foundation in teaching writing.
  • Integrate technology appropriately throughout the curriculum.
  • Integrate Judaic studies connections throughout the curriculum.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan curricular units and to problem solve for student issues.
